Polyurea is the reaction product of an isocyanate (the "A" side) and an amine-terminated resin blend (the "B" side) [1]. The two parts are kept separate until they meet at the spray gun. Because the reaction is fast and does not depend on moisture or a catalyst, the material gels within seconds of hitting the surface and can be handled in about a minute [2][3].
It is 100% solids — nothing evaporates, so there are no solvents, no VOCs and very little odor [1][3]. That is why it can be sprayed in cold, damp or enclosed conditions that would stall an epoxy.

Polyurea is not a bucket product. It needs plural-component equipment and an installer who controls temperature, pressure and surface prep.

Pure polyurea liners are rated for splash and spill exposure to fuels, oils, many acids and alkalis and routine cleaning chemicals; immersion service is confirmed against the manufacturer's resistance chart for the specific chemical and concentration [2][3]. Manufacturers publish service temperature ranges and physical properties, not lifetimes, because life depends on prep, thickness and exposure. Trade sources commonly cite 20+ years for properly installed polyurea versus a 5–7 year recoat cycle for epoxy in the same service [10].
Yes. Pure polyurea systems are documented spraying at substrate temperatures down to 0°F–40°F depending on the system, and in humidity up to 80–85%, as long as the surface is dry and above the dew point [2][3].
Cured polyurea is inert. During spraying the isocyanate side requires respirators and PPE for the crew and an exclusion zone for everyone else; the site is safe to re-enter once the material is tack-free and the area is ventilated [2]. There are no solvents or VOCs.
Polyurea bridges hairline and moving cracks, but structural damage is repaired first — patched, reinforced or re-fabricated per the equipment manufacturer or an industry code of practice — and then lined. Regulators do not accept a sealant-only fix of a structurally failed sump [11].
